Jeff Kasparek

Bass Trombone

Picture of Jeff Kasparek

Jeff Kasparek was inspired by his Grandfather, Joe Kasparek, who played cornet with the Zor Shrine Drum & Bugle Corps. Joe would play for Jeff and his brother, then let them try to make sounds on the instrument. When Jeff was old enough to take up band in school, trombone is what ended up in his hands, under the tutelage of directors Bill Simon, Harlan Adams, and Henry Clark.

Jeff received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1990. It was as an undergrad at UWEC that Jeff discovered the splendor of the Bass Trombone, guided by Rodney Hudson, playing a Bach 50BL with independent in-line valves. If you are at Eau Claire, it is inventory number 23!

Over the past 20 years Jeff has taught band in small, private/parochial,and large school districts. Jeff currently teaches 7th grade band, high school band, and small group lessons with the Monona Grove School District.

Jeff plays with the Jeff Peronto Jazz Orchestra, the Little Big Band, the Beaver Dam Community Band, the Trinity Brass Ensemble, the Trinity Orchestra, and the Beaver Dam Trombone Choir (often referred to as the "Beaver Dam Sackbutts.)

Jeff’s trombones include a 1978 Conn 50H tenor w/F attachment (pictured), a 1961 Conn 6H, and a 2005 Getzen Eterna 1052FD Bass Trombone. Incidentally, the 50H is the same trombone his Mom and Dad bought him in 8th grade. It still plays great!

Jeff started playing with the Madison Brass Band in the spring of 2010, and recently re-joined the group in the spring of 2011.

Jeff currently resides with his family in lovely Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and freely gigs where ever a gig is to be gigged!
